We are asked this question again and again. The answer can be a clear “No”. But with a bit of reflection, the answer can also be “Yes”. Let’s explain why that’s the case.

First, we need to explain the term “ad-hoc”. “ad-hoc” means roughly “based on the situation” or “based on the current position”. In relation to a workflow, it means that a process is defined in relation to the situation, without further preparation. For example, an employee dealing with the incoming post might specify the people or departments who should receive a particular document. It might also be possible to add work instructions and deadlines as well.

By its nature, JobRouter does not support ad-hoc workflows initially. On the contrary - JobRouter is used to define regularly recurring processes precisely. For this, any number of rules and activities can be defined, or interactions with other systems specified. Multi-stage escalations are possible, as are complex deputizing arrangements.
